can't save or open files, and dark tooltips (see linked video)
Ok, I don't know how to describe this,or if this is a Firefox or a Kubuntu issue but I will try. Also see the linked video for exactly what is happening. Running Kubuntu 14.04
This just suddenly started happening where I can't save or open files in FF, clicking on the folders does nothing, cannot navigate through folders to save or open a file. Also, the tooltips are about unreadable. I have purged firefox from the PC, I have "refreshed" it, I have deleted EVERY file relating to it, have also deleted the .mozilla file, the problems are still there. My mouse works fine, yes I have tried different ones, etc. This did not coincide with any new addons or software changes.
The best way is to watch the video to see what is exactly happening. https://youtu.be/s2OvmM4ZZLg

Hi
Thank you for your question and thank you also for taking the time and effort to produce that video. It really helps us to see the problems you are having. I am using Linux myself (Ubuntu 16.04 with a pre-release version of Firefox) so I appreciate what it is like trying to describe issues to what can often feel like a Windows audience.
I do not know what version of Firefox you are using, nor do I know if you are using a Mozilla or a distro build, but I have done a bit of research and I believe that the issue could be down to the display theme you are using. Firefox 46 introduced support for GTK3 themes but I understand that there may be issues with Oxygen themes for Kubuntu.
Please you can supply some information about the version of Firefox (version and source) and the desktop theme you are using and I will be able to look into this further for you.

Thank you for your response! I am using 47.0 (mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu Canonical 1.0) looks like the theme is "air", hopefully that is what you mean, otherwise I am unsure. I am running the 64 bit version of Kubuntu, if that helps. I downloaded FF through Kubuntu's package manager, Muon.
Hi
Thanks for the information. Yes, it does look like you have the same issue that others are having with that distro build of Firefox and an Oxygen theme.
This does appear to be an issue that is more in the domain of Kubuntu than Mozilla and it does look like Kubuntu has a bug open for this issue. From what I have seen, fixing this is something that I personally would regard as complex, but if you want to have a look at some solutions that others have tried, I recommend reading this and this which may help.
Alternatively I would suggest that you ask the Kubuntu support team for help and advice with this issue.
Ok, thanks for the info. I also posted on Ubuntu Forums, so I will wait from a response from them as well. I'll continue to use chromium for now, and hope for a fix to this soon. Thanks so much for your help, makes me feel a little better to know it's not just me, or something I did wrong.
