emailadresses export to linkedin
Background: Recently I registered with LinkedIn.com The site asked me for permission to search through my email-addresses, which I declined. Then I got a mail 'Do you know so and so'. Do you want to connect?' I decided to connect. Next I got a list of names that are on my list of email-addresses. I do not believe that this is co-incidence. The list was to specific.
My question: Does Thunderbird allow linkedin, facebook and that kind of sites to browse through my email-addresses ? If so, how can I block this function ?

'Do you know so and so'. Do you want to connect?' I decided to connect.
You'd need to explain that in more detail.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Thunderbird has got nothing to do with either LinkedIn or Facebook. So how should LinkedIn or Facebook get access to your Thunderbird address book? And if that was technically possible, how do you think Thunderbird could prevent that, may be even when it's not running? So I don't think this has got anything to do with Thunderbird.
Perhaps you did login to LinkedIn with your Facebook credentials?

No, I did not login with facebook credentials. I am a facebook avoider.
When you register with linkedin, the website asks you permission to browse your email-addresses to find people you know on linkedin. I suppose, that linkedin has some way to browse. Otherwise the question would be useless. With webmail it is not very difficult to implement this, when the webmail server has this as a service to certain websites like linkedin or facebook. With thunderbird it seems odd. I keep everything local.
From your surprise about my question I deduce that it is not a function of Thunderbird. Perhaps other linkedin-members have given some kind of access to their email-accounts, and linkedin found my address in their address-books.
