Chosen solution

You need to set up every account to use POP (the default is IMAP) and set each account individually to use the Global Inbox.

An alternative, which many users seem to be happy with, is to use IMAP but set it to Unified Folders view which collates all messages from the individual Inboxes and displays then in a collective virtual Inbox. It does the same for other standard folders such as Trash, Sent and Junk.

Try Unified Folders first. It's easy to set up and use. The Global Inbox method may require that you remove and reinstall accounts.
