I want to add another email account, but do not have the 'New' option in the File menu.

Chosen solution

It is under File-New when using the Menu Bar which is hidden in the new version. Pressing the alt key reveals hidden Menu Bars in most applications including Thunderbird.

When using the new and not so improved 3 line AppMenu button they moved it under New Message for some unknown reason.
