i no longer have send or attach buttons in thunderbird

more options

I go to inbox in thunderbird, click on a message, then click on reply. I get only a window with at the top only email status info: to, from, subject and below that, space to compose my reply but no button anywhere to send my reply or attach a document to it. No mail toolbar with send or attach buttons. In view dropdown in menu bar back at inbox, both menu bar and mail bar are checked. I've tried on view dropdown to customize and change to default settings, did not work. To reset Thunderbird completely, I read to push shift and to click on Thunderbird icon, but where do I find that icon? Many other people seem to have this problem. This all happened out of the blue; I've used Thunderbird for a couple of years successfully.

Chosen solution

The Mail Toolbar is in the main window so that has nothing to do with toolbars in a Write window. Open a Write window. Do you have a Menu Bar there? If not press the alt key to make it appear. From the Menu Bar select View-Toolbars and turn the toolbars back on. Send and Attach are on the Composition Toolbar.
