When I try to access email Thunderbird says " could not access server, connection was refused"

I can not see any of my email , nor my inbox. When I try to "Get Messages" Thunderbird says could not access server, connection was refused. We were trying to save a message in a folder, and all of a sudden messages are gone, and I cant find folders. I can find address book!

Hello eballard.

Does the error message says more, or just "connection was refused"? Even in case it worked before, this can have a variety of causes - incorrect account settings in Thundebird or the mail server being blocked by your internet service provider or antivirus/firewall.
