I used the sort by read to get all unread to top. Not all go to top if they are in response to a sent message.

When using the green dot to bring all unread to the top of the page the system will not bring unread message that were response to a send message. They say with the string of message that have the same subject.

Or simply use the Quickfilter bar to select only unread messages.
