I would like to open an image file automatically every time I've got a new mail. (The same picture every time.) I'm on Linux Mint.

I think you could install FiltaQuilla, then create a filter that launches the image file whenever new messages arrive. Additional criteria could be added to restrict the filter action to only some senders, subjects etc.
