I have idea you can check.

Make hidden files and folders visible:

Locate your Thunderbird profile folder. C:\Users\Windows user name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\Profile name\ 'Profile name' will probably be 'xxxxxxxx.default' where the x's are letters and numbers.

In the 'profile name' folder there will be alist of folders and files including 'Mail' folder. scroll down and look for 'parent.lock' file. This file is created when you open Thunderbird and should be auto removed when you exit Thunderbird. but I'm wondering if this file is still present and that is why TB will not start because it sees that file and thinks it is already running.

delete the 'parent.lock' file close the window Start thunderbird.

Please report back on results.
