Thunderbird just deleted 90% of my newest emails with none in TRASH

When I started Thunderbird on my Windows 8 PC it automatically started deleting emails from my inbox. 90% of my newest emails were sent to trash but none were there.

Had you done anything else you're not telling us about, such as deleting them on the server, or in another client (tablet, phone etc)?

I do NOT synchronize my email account with any other device. This incident occurred when I started Thunderbird on my home PC. The emails were immediately deleted with a message stating they were moved to "TRASH". However they were NOT in the TRASH folder.

Your account is IMAP, so the retention policy set by your provider (Comcast) will over ride any settings in Thunderbird as the mail are synchronised to what is happening on the Comxcast server.
