I am currently running Firefox 30.0. I know there is a more current version but when I go to About Firefox and click check for update it is says that I am up to date. Is there a way to upate without having to uninstall Firefox?

Chosen solution

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you uninstall and (re)install or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

Please go to www.getfirefox.com, and download the new version. Install it over your current install and all your data will be saved.

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.
