How do I delete a 2nd identical Gmail default account in Thunderbird?

more options

I have two identical Gmail accounts listed on Thunderbird. The first default/primary account always says " Thunderbird failed to log onto to Gmail" The second account with the same name logs in automatically and successfully. I want to get rid of the first account that doesn't work but Thunderbird won't let me because that is the default account. Gmail says I only have the one account. I tried deleting Thunderbird and downloading it again but the two identical accounts are still there. Any ideas? Thank you!

You can designate the working account as the default one, and then delete the other. Press Alt or F10 in case the menu bar is hidden. From the main menu bar: Tools - Account Settings Select the account to be designated as default account in the left pane. Select 'Set as Defaultt' from the 'Account Action' drop-down menu at the bottom.

Before deleting the other account make sure you copied any mail you want to keep somewhere else.

Thank you! I had to change the name on the default account before I could delete it but when I did I was finally able to get rid of the duplicate account. Thank you very much!!!
