New Mail notification shows up in my Windows Account Login Screen, can I turn this off?

I just began using Thunderbird for my email as I'm so sick of "Comcast/Xfinity" dumping advertising and other junk on my computer when I just want to get to my Comcast email. I have customized Thunderbird email (options, etc.) to display the way I want. However, I am using a shared computer that I've set up to require login to several user or the Admin accounts and now T-Bird puts up a notification on my user account (on the Windows Login screen) of new email having arrived and how many new emails I have. I do not necessarily want other users to know if I have new email and how many new messages I have. Is there a way to turn this "feature" off? I don't see any option in any of the T-Bird tools.

cbrookej If you have already logged on to the Windows User Account and can see desktop etc, then please switch off the Alerts notifications as per instructions in the first comment marked as 'Helpful Reply'.

When you see the windows logon and an alert pops up: On the keyboard, Press the 'Prt Scr' key. then logon to user account Open 'Paint' (Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint) right click and select 'paste' save as jpg image on desktop Post image into this forum using the 'Add images 'Browse' button located below a 'Post a Reply' text box.

via 'Menu Bar' 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'General' tab

via 'Mail Toolbar' 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'General' tab

under section 'when new messages arrive': uncheck the options. click on 'OK'

Toad-Hall, Great. Thanks.

Oops. I thought that had worked (Toad-Hall's "fix") but it did not. When I "logged out" of my "User" Windows account and new email had arrived, the "Windows Login User Accounts" window still displayed, for my user account, that I had new email. Still confused as to how to stop new email from displaying in the Windows user account login screen, if possible.

P.S.: Still running Windows XP, Mostly works fine for me and don't need all of the "dodads" in more recent versions of "Windows"... Probably should just run Linux but forced to use Microsoft by work environment,

Still can't find any way to "turn off" the new email notification on my "Windows Login" screen.

Can you provide a screenshot of the offending item?

I suspect there is an account still set up in Outlook Express or possibly Outlook that displays the new message count on the logon screen.

Sorry Zenos that I can not provide a screen shot as at the "Windows" login screen I can do nothing until I log on, or at least I have no idea how I could do that.

And, sfhowes - Thanks for the idea but I have never used Outlook Express or Outlook on this laptop, nor did I load either when I installed the Windows XP or XP updates...SP2, 3...

Still trying to find a way to stop T-Bird from displaying new emails at the Windows login, but thanks for the suggestions.

It's hard to see why Thunderbird should even be running at the point in time when you login, hence the request for a screenshot; it might help identify where this prompt originates.

Even a photo of the screen would do! ;-)

My problem may be similar. For some time now, probably since one update, a box has spontaneously opened in the right lower corner of my screen, which may contain new emails, or documents from Drafts. I find this very annoying. How can I stop it?
