Hello. Is it possible to remove a web site from the "Most Visited" list? If so, how?

I doubt there is a way to do this, but I would like to know for sure. I log onto Gmail very often, so of course it appears in the "Most Visited" list. Although this is generally a convenience for people to reach an often-visited web site faster, I would like it not to appear there. It's not like Bookmarks, where you must choose to bookmark a site, so I doubt there is a solution. If I had used "Private Browsing" in the first place, maybe this would have prevented my problem, but I didn't know one could browse privately until today. Thanks.

If it is a bookmark then you would have to reset the visit count of that bookmark. You can make the Visit Count column visible in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) via the "Views > Columns" menu

  • "Most Visited" and "Recently Bookmarked" and "Recent Tags" are examples of so called Smart Bookmarks folders and are not real existing folders.
  • Smart folders show a list created by a query of the places.sqlite database that stores bookmarks and history in Firefox.
  • Smart folder lists show a maximum of 10 entries by default.
  • Bookmarks and history items that show up in a smart folder list are stored elsewhere in another folder and any changes made are applied to the real bookmark or history item.
  • If you remove an entry then the list is shifted up and a new entry that wasn't shown previously is added to show 10 entries.
  • If you add a new bookmark or visit a website then a new item is added at the top and the entry at the bottom disappears from that list.
  • Items that disappear from the list are not gone, but merely do not show up anymore in that list.
  • Actions like copy & paste or delete that you perform on bookmarks in such a list are done on the original bookmark.

Hello, it's possible to remove a website from your "Most Viewed" list because it is your default Bookmarks toolbar.

  • To delete any component from bookmarks, right click on that item. Then select Delete.
  • To remove the entire toolbar:
1)From menubar go to View (if you can't see the menubar at the top, just press Alt from keyboard)
2)From the View menu, move your cursor over Toolbars and uncheck your Bookmarks Toolbar.

Hello Roopak,

Thanks for your suggestion, but so far it doesn't wrk. Thanks for explaining that "Most Visited" is really a part of Bookmarks, but right-clicking on the item, whether by directly accessing the Most Visited list in the drop-down on the left, or by step-wise accessing it through the Bookmarks drop-down, doesn't work. When I right-click on the item, nothing appears, let alone "Delete". I don't think my mouse is mal-functioning. I hope this is clear. Thanks, Bonnie
