I find thunderbird automatically deletes emails after a while. It may be because I also get my emails on my phone. I live in France and use sfr.

Is it a POP3-account? Do you leave messages on server? On both units ? Leave until you delete them? On both? then if you delete on one ...... its gone.

Using POP3 to more then one unit is difficult as it is suppose to download and forget. Unless you tell it otherwise.

IMAP is supposed to keep mail on server and let you peek at them. Here on the other hand it will try to synchronize your folders with those on server. So if you delete on one unit server tries to delete and sync the other units. Unless you tell it otherwise.
