I'd like to find all messages which have no tags. There seems to be no simple way to do this, is there one or can one be implemented?

Chosen solution

I suspect the OP is a heavy tag user and wants to find non-tagged messages anywhere.

I'd set up a Saved Search to gather all non-tagged messages.

File|New|Saved Search

select all folders

"tags" "is empty"

The easiest way would be to sort them after tagnr or use an add-on FiltaQuilla that gives you more filter-options like tag=empty

That's right but why does Saved Search have more powerful operators (such as "is empty") than the simple Search Messages dialog? With the latter, it only seems to offer "contains" or "doesn't contain" as operators for tags.

Thanks for the solution!

FiltaQuilla would give you that option in simple search.
