What happened to insert function. It used to on the same line as File
What happened to insert function? It used to on the same line as Files, Tools, etc. It is no longer there. If you want insert a JPG you have sent it as an attachment. I have read through the help files and can find no answer. I want my old Thunderbird back! Newer is not always better.

I suspect you have lost the Mail composition toolbar. Open a Write window, hold down the <alt>key, tap v and tick the checkbox for Mail Toolbar. I'd also enable the Menu Bar while you're there.
Another possibility, if the insert option is missing from the Mail Toolbar, is that it has switched to plain text composing mode. Open the settings page for the affected account by a right-click on the account in the left hand pane, select Composition & Addressing and tick the checkbox labelled "Compose using HTML format".

Compose using HTML format did the trick. I did not change any settings, so it must be the default install on upgrades.
Thank you for the help.
