My emails do not arrive in inbox until till I press "get messages"

Since a reload of Thunderbird I look at my inbox thinking nothing has arrived. It requires me to click "get messages" before loading them to my inbox. I cannot find the setting to change this back so that they appear in inbox as soon as received.

Hi Alex

Sorry for the hard times. You just need to set Thunderbird to check for emails automatically.

  1. Open Edit -> Account settings and select your incoming mail account.
  2. Under Server settings check "Check for new messages on startup" and "Check for new messages every X minutes". Set your preferred duration here
  3. Click Ok

You're ready to go

Please report back with your results after this.

The following 3 are ticked and I have re-booted:

check for new at startup check for new every 1 minute automatically download new messages

But still I find when I click "get messages" a backlog of messages appear which have been there, somewhere, for maybe hours.

What next please?

Hello again

Sorry you still have this issue.

Maybe you should get in touch with your service provider to check if they have a backlog or queue that is sending these emails late.

Also check how the email account behaves on webmail or online email client.

Please report back with your findings.

Regards.
