Looks like Websense Endpoint caused that crash.

Response from the developers of Endpoint in the Bug report. "The last version of firefox that is currently supported is version 39.x. Our development teams are currently working on an Endpoint version for versions 40.x . The browser versions currently supported are provided in the URL below."

Thanks edmiester. I downloaded v39. was a bit of a chore to find it. Now it works with that p.o.s. websense. era

Workaround: I found that if I renamed firefox.exe to something different, then ran it, IT's software didn't crash it. I've had to do this repeatedly, however, each time FireFox upgrades. YMMV. I presume WebSense is DLL-hooking and actually special-casing behavior depending upon the calling process name. Yuck. Tis a pity, since with add-ons Firefox can block flash, block ads, and pre-check URL's before visiting, in my experience/judgement far more secure than IE.
