I used to use Thunderbird when I was using Windows XP. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 & for a while have been using my Virgin Media internet account to get all my Emails. But I have now downloaded Thunderbird again I wanted to use my old settings & password etc instead of having to get a new account. I have installed it but when it gets to checking all the details to sign in such as username & password etc it keeps saying they are wrong, as these are the details I have always used in the past. Is there a way around this so I can reinstall and use my old details or do I need to open a new account and get a new password etc ??

Also is there a help line telephone number I could call and discuss this problem ??

Thankyou

my old Thunderbird account

There is no such thing as a Thunderbird account. Thunderbird is an email client you use to retrieve mail from an account you set up with your email provider. Obviously you'll have to configure that account in Thunderbird.

I wanted to use my old settings & password

You'd need a backup of your Thunderbird profile from the Win XP installation. Or does the profile still exist on your current machine? Check this article for more information on the profile location. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

it keeps saying they are wrong, as these are the details I have always used in the past.

You can try to verify your credentials using webmail.

Is there a way around this so I can reinstall and use my old details

All you need are the correct server settings and the correct credentials. That shouldn't be impossible to work out.

is there a help line telephone number I could call

There is no phone support for Thunderbird. This forum is the official support venue.
