Why am I all of a sudden getting Facebook notifications in my email

I have never received notification of Facebook posts to my timeline via email. Now in the last week I have started receiving these. Why?

Chosen solution

It probably is a new notification option in Facebook. They want to be in your, er, face, as often as possible, it seems.

You might be able to create a filter in Thunderbird to discard them, but it's probably easier to turn them off at the source.

Thank you, however I do not know how to "turn them off at the source". As you can tell I am not very computer literate. Thanks again for letting me know why I am getting them. I actually would like to get off facebook but don't know how to cancel the account.bold text
