Convert text to a table
Is there a way to convert a set of tabbed text to a table?
AREA MONTH SALES GP 1 10000 GP 2 15000 GP 3 11200 KZN 1 20000 KZN 2 22000 KZN 3 21500
Can I highlight the text above, select something like "Insert" and select "Text to Table" and perhaps select "Create columns per TAB" and then have this text changed to a nicely formatted table?
Thanks in anticipation, Tony Robson

There might be a way, if you write your lines with tabs then mark it all in Format /table there is "create table from selection" select space as separator and ignore extra spaces

There is nothing I am aware of that does that outside of a word processing program.
Thanks for the response Matt. I assume that means that MS Outlook is a "Word Processing Program" :-) Or maybe MS Outlook uses MS Word to create mail messages?
So - next question then.... Is there a way to copy text into adjacent rows and columns in a table? I copied a tabbed list and a comma separated list, highlighted all the rows and columns in my table and pressed Ctrl V to paste.
All the text was copied into column 1. Is there some sort of "special" or "advanced" copy method that will do the trick?
Your text has only spaces in between and also nothing to end a line. If you want to import it in a table or document use a program like office and LibreOffice. But there MUST be something that tell when next line starts.
With Libreoffice (and ms-office) you can convert text to table in the word processor OR you can import it in a spreadsheet.
Well.... I did type my original text on separate lines. Sorry. The "post" seemed to strip it all out?
Anyway.... The answer is then to use a Word Processor and then copy and paste the table back into Thunderbird. It is a bit of a long way round but I suppose that is just how it is! Thank you.
