Spell replace all fault in Thunderbird
When I use spell check it works fine except when I chose "replace all" function. It does not replace it just appends the correct word to the incorrect word making a bit of a mess of the email. This has been occurring for some time and updating does not help. I have the latest update. It used to work fine many many updates ago about 2 - 3 years ago? I just tend to not use that function but it would be very useful if I could. Thanks. I love Thunderbird its great. KInd Regards, Peter
Attached is a screen shot of an email showing how it treats is misspelled to si

Try holding the shift key while starting Thunderbird to enter "safe Mode". Safe mode disables non standard themes and add-ons to test if they cause the issue.
Hi. Thank you for your prompt response. Unfortunately the problem remains exactly the same.
What dictionary and version are you using? 'Tools' > 'Add-ons' OR 'Menu icon' > 'Add-ons' select the 'Dictionaries' icon
Example - I'm using:
- British English Dictionary (updated) 1.19.6
British dictionary 1.19.1

British dictionary 1.19.1 https://addons.mozilla.org/EN-us/thunderbird/addon/british-english-dictionary/ That dictionary says it works with Thunderbird 2.0a1 - 15.0a1. Are you using an old version of Thunderbird ?
I'm using Thunderbird 38.0.1 - the current up to date release and I'm using British English Dictionary (Updated) 1.19.6 Works with Thunderbird 2.0a1 - 36.* https://addons.mozilla.org/En-us/thunderbird/addon/british-english-dictionary-/
I recreated the same email using 'si' and checked the replace all. It works perfectly for me. I would try downloading and installing the same one I'm using and see if this fixes your issue,
