Is the problem with the suggestions that show up below Firefox's search bar, or with suggestions on the search site itself?

For Firefox's search bar, it's probably easier to completely disable suggestions. Try this: right-click or Ctrl+click the blank area of the bar and "uncheck" "Show Suggestions" at the bottom of the menu. Typing in the bar then should not show any suggestions generated by the search site. (More info: Use the Search bar in Firefox and manage search engines)

On the search site, you can explore the SafeSearch options. This varies depending on your preferred search site but, for example:
