I have 13 plugins all of which are DISABLED - how do I remove them? Why are they installed anyway?
In Add-ons Manager I see I have 13 plugins all of which are DISABLED. 2 of them concern Java vulnerability.
How do I remove them? Why are they installed anyway? Are they 3rd party codes from app that I have on my system?
Chosen solution
They are active most likely in Firefox. Especially things like Flash and silverlight. As a mail client Thunderbird does not allow plugins and they constitute a security risk. But as they are already installed they are disabled by default.
This is just like you only install a printer once and all applications see it. You don't then try and remove it from paint because you don't use a printer there.

You don't remove them. They are disabled because that makes them safe. Usually they are installed by Firefox.
What is the purpose of plugins that should not be used? Or they can be used in Firefox but not in Thunderbird? I assume they are taking some space on my harddrive.

Plugins are not actually installed by the Firefox browser nor are they installed in Firefox, Thunderbird or SeaMonkey. They are installed on system (whether it be Windows, Mac OSX or Linux) and the Firefox, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey finds and makes use of them if compatible.
This is why with Plugins you can only activate/deactivate at most while Extensions and Themes have a Remove.
