There is no "options" under tools

Searching for answers, I was referred to review settings under /Tools/Options ... but there is no "Options" under "Tools" Why? Why do you keep changing things in such a way that you take away functions that have long been standard features in firefox?

Where can I find the "Options" that is supposed to be under "Tools"?

It's not there. There is no "Options" tab under Edit > Preferences. See the screen shots.

What is so confusing and highly frustrating is when we are given instructions that **do not work** when followed exactly because firefox has just willy-hilly made changes in terminology and in the location of functions so that things that used to work no longer work and we users are left in the dark and expected to understand things that are not clearly and explicitly explained.

The term "options" and the term "preferences" are two entirely different words with different meanings and it is ridiculous to assume that someone should be able to follow instructions when the terms and locations of things are continually and needlessly changed around.

firefox used to work so well, but with all of the endless changes it has simply become a jumbled mess.

Just look at the google searches for so many, many examples of searches for how to get things to work in firefox. It is no surprise that firefox is losing ground so rapidly.

Too many senseless changes.

Windows = Tools -> Options Mac OSX = Firefox/Thunderbird -> Preferences Linux = Edit -> Preferences

There has been no such menu changes in Firefox ever since.

It has been Edit ->Preferences with Firefox on Linux since it was Phoenix 0.1 way back in Sept 2002. There was however one time it was Tools->Options by accident for Firefox 0.8 but was reverted back to the normal Edit ->Preferences from Fx 0.9 to present.

It is Edit->Preferences on Linux due to the GNOME HIG and Firefox ->Preferences on Mac OSX due to the Apple HIG.

The articles https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/firefox at should give OS specific instructions. However instructions elsewhere for Firefox depending on source tends to be more for Windows users.

Hi joseppi, for future reference, this site's Knowledge Base articles have OS detection, so you should get OS-specific menu instructions in those articles. However, forum posts are tailored specifically to the OS of the original poster and are not written to automagically adapt to new readers. And as you know, a new version of Firefox releases every six weeks and so old posts can be obsolete or incomplete. That is why we suggest always starting a new question for your problem so you can get personal assistance. It's faster than railing against the system.
