How do I get the default BBC news page (http://news.bbc.co.uk) to function like it does in IE?

Well then you may as well just remove the homepage option as it has no possible use!

Sorry, maybe i've misunderstood, but I'm not sure what this has to do with Thunderbird ?

Why don't you just set http://news.bbc.co.uk as your home page and it will become obvious to you. Then you can try clicking tabs and stuff and see the problem for yourself!

Why don't you just set http://news.bbc.co.uk as your home page and it will become obvious to you.

I've opened http://news.bbc.co.uk in a new Thunderbird tab (using the Thunderbrowse add-on here). It looks normal to me.

I have no intention to 'try clicking tabs and stuff'. If you do have a problem with that page, then do explain it properly here. You may also post a screenshot.
