How to switch html's for standard pages; update plugins?
When i go to firefox plugin check, the entire page is html (yes, long pages of blue highlighted sentences and black plain type. and absolutely no way to figure out what i'm doing) The same for yahoo answers (in which case the blue sentence-options then cover the entire page, so i can't even read the question and answers), firefox themes page (again, tall page filled with blue highlights and black type), including the firefox support page where i wanted to ask this question. I am currently using chrome for web browsing (how else can i accomplish anything? the whole page was wacko!), however i wish to switch back to firefox. It may be noted that there is no effect on google mail, facebook, pinterest, and most other pages except for wordpress which suddenly i cannot access, which i suppose it is possible may be due to this issue of firefox's webpages being presented as unfathomable html's. It may also be noted that despite downloading the latest version of java, java seems to have no affect whatsoever on my computer or my browsers. I am using an out of date computer- the version that W. discontinued, Windows XP. However, like i said, Chrome continues to bring me webpages just like firefox should. I would love for this problem to be resolved- for me to be able to resume using fire fox; to use plugin check, to use firefox themes, and to utilize mozilla support. I hope you think a lot about this and come back with a resolution! Sincerely, Molasses.

Lets start with this;
Separate Issue; Your System Details shows;
Installed Plug-ins
Shockwave for Director 12.0.6.147
Shockwave for Director 12.1.0.150
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.
You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.
BTW, all of your adobe software is out of date.
Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac
Then reinstall the latest version.
Flash Player Version 17.0.0.188

Shockwave Director: Shockwave Standalone Installer / Uninstaller{web link} Shockwave Director Version 12.1.8.158 http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:
- see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
- disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

- disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Hi Fred, Unfortunately, i still get the html's for firefox, and presumably the other websites as well. My plugins are now as follows:
ActiveTouch General Plugin Container 29.1.2013.906
OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. 1.4
Shockwave Flash 17.0.0.188
Adobe Acrobat 11.0.8.4
Google Update 1.3.27.5
Java Deployment Toolkit 8.0.450.15 11.45.2.15 (disabled)
Java(TM) Platform SE 8 U45 11.45.2.15
Shockwave for Director 12.1.8.158
Silverlight Plug-In 5.1.30514.0
Unity Player 4.1.2.1635 (disabled)
Windows Presentation Foundation 3.5.30729.1
MeaStream 3 Plugin 3.2.2.26 (disabled)
It may also be noted that despite my efforts to sabatoge yahoo's hacking, my https:// bar is stuck with yahoo search. I keep switching it back to duckduckgo.com, but yahoo keeps reappearing. Perhaps solving that issue might solve the html firefox problem? It would make sense in a convoluted way...yahoo, wordpress, and firefox-based webs are the only ones that come up html.

Thank you so much! It's resolved!
Is the issue of "unstyled" pages resolved? That can sometimes indicate a secure certificate problem. If you have had to make any certificate exceptions recently, it would be worth exploring further since it could indicate either that Firefox is not fully set up to work with your security software (e.g., avast!, BitDefender, ESET, or Kaspersky) or that your computer unfortunately has contracted a malware infection.
