Hi, i am using version 31.6.0 of Thunderbird on Linux Mint 17.1. I've searched everywhere and tried all different configurations I found. Nothing seems to work. I get errors similar to "Login to server outlook.office365.com" failed (and no it is not a password issue). I suspect it has to do with exactly what server it's hitting (tried many different recommended ones). It works using firefox outlook web access. Anyone have a solution before I give up ? ps- here is a sample of my current settings :

Account name: myname@mycompany.com Name: my name e-mail : myname@mycompany.com IMAP Server name: outlook.office365.com port 993 (also tried defaults for pop, etc) User Name: myname@mycompany.com (pretty sure I also tried My name) Connection security : (SSL/TLS (also tried others) Auth method: Normal (tried others)

Hello Matt,

That worked with davmail/thunderbird, great post :-)

The only thing I would add is the latest iteration of Microsloth server to use in davmail is outlook.office365.com (Don't recall seeing that in the docs).

For now the Micro$oft Windoze admins are out of the loop  :)

The server name and port sound right based on these articles:

However, the first article mentions a place in OWA that you can double-check your IMAP connection settings. I think that would be worth a visit.

Also, are you sure IMAP access to your account is permitted? I think administrators might have the option to disable it.

Various institutions also have posted directions for their users which might be worth skimming for ideas:

It looks like those procedures are a bit outdated (if it's from Microsloth it doesn't surprise me them trying to make it as hard as possible to use anything but their stupid product). From what I gather I do not see IMAP, POP or smtp options in OWA so I will pursue that avenue for now to see if it's been disabled by the admin monkeys. I just wish organizations like mine would stop using idiotic proprietary services like office 365 from the evil empire, what a bunch of BS. I will not be used to force outlook from big brother. thx

You can use OWA, either with Kent James add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/exquilla-exchange-web-services/?src=ss or Davmail http://davmail.sourceforge.net/index.html

I discuss it a little on my blog here http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2011/11/thunderbird-and-exchange-owa.html

Just an alternative to flogging the Admin Monkeys.
