Cannot install Firefox on window 8.1
For some reason I cannot install firefox (any version) on my laptop. I had v32 but then one of you posts said to uninstall and cleanly install the new version. Now I cannot install AT ALL. I click the download link and it says extracting but then poof......NOTHING. I have now lost all my bookmarks and everything else INCLUDING Firefox.
Why can I not install this. When I got this laptop I had no problem installing, but now I cant get the darn thing installed and I hate (absolutely hate) IE -- in fact chrome wont install either.
Please help me install and please do not simply post a link to the download. I know where that is and that is not the problem.
Thank you

As long as you did not use some third party uninstaller, or deliberately removed information your bookmarks should be avilable again once Firefox is reinstalled.
Maybe you have security related software blocking the install. Do you get any error messages or warnings ? I do not use Windows 8 but possibly it uses troubleshooters instead of event logs

Make sure you check any security related software, is that blocking Firefox from installing ?

the problem is that i cannot install firefox at all.... when i go to install it it says extracting and then nothing. i will worry about bookmarks later. i just need to get firefox installed. any answers for that?
Hi urbaneve, are you using the "stub" installer from the main download page green button? Some security software blocks the stub installer. If you haven't already, try the "full" installer from the following page (scroll down to your language):
Since the installer does not self-destruct on its own, if your security software is not quarantining or removing it (presumably it can tell you if it did) then you may have a malware infection that is trying to keep you from using alternate browsers. Our support article lists cleaning tools that other Firefox users have found helpful: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These are free downloads that should work without any payment or registration required. They also tend to take quite a while to complete their scans. If one or more of them seems to finish quickly and require a payment for cleaning, you may have a serious infection. In that case, please refer to the specialized forums listed in the article for cleanup advice.
