Why is the "Write" (new message) button greyed out? I can't write any new emails.
Having trouble generating any new emails; The Write button in the toolbar is greyed out. Does anybody know why?

Try to reset default. Right click on the Write button and select 'Customise' click on 'Restore default set' button. click on 'Done to close window.
Please check to see if any addons are conflicting by restarting in Safe Mode. Help > Restart with addons disabled. If it works in TB Safe Mode then maybe an addon is causing a conflict. You would have to enable all addons - restart as normal and then gradually disable each in turn to see which one is the problem.
Please post image of the top section showing all the toolbars and their buttons.
I'm having this problem in 31.6.0 for Mac OS. Write button is grayed out when I have the Inbox window open. I can open any message and click on write button there... but not in the inbox window itself. Irritating, since this has routinely worked before. I don't have any add-ons. Image attached.
Assuming you tried the information to 'Restore default set'

The bug report describes my experience - grayed out at the application level and the menu option is also greyed out. Ctrl+N does not work.
If I open an email, the "write" button is active inside the email and I can originate a fresh email that way.
Okay, it's suddenly started working. The only thing I did was open the preferences and click around. I didn't change any settings. Shrug... I have no idea... I will try the reset if it happens again...
