does Thunderbird operate properly in a "windows 8" "64-bit" pc
I just wanna know what issues I might encounter with a 64-bit pc BEFORE I download & install Thunderbird.

re: my Windows 8 pc can't retrieve 'pop3' email (which is why I'm considering Thunderbird).
After creating mail account in Thunderbird, if you still have an issue wih Pop3, please post this as a separate question and someone will offer assistance.

It's just that 64-bit systems occasionally have quirks and issues with software (or so I've read) -- not to mention the fact that I absolutely HATE, ABHOR, and DESPISE the fact that my Windows 8 pc can't retrieve 'pop3' email !!! (which is why I'm considering Thunderbird)
Thunderbird is a 32-bit application. However, 64-bit Windows 7 and 8 supports both 32-bit and 64-bit applications.
Thunderbird will download and install in this location which is where 64bit OS will run it from: C:\Program Files(86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe
For backup perposes, your actual Thunderbird Profile containing emails etc will be stored here: C:\Users\Windows user name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\Profile name\

Thanx again, Toad-Hall -- I hope I don't have any dire issues with either Pop3 or smtp, but if I encounter problems, no doubt I'll return to the forum for help!
