I suspected a problem when I was not receiving e-mails for a few days, and it was tied to the changeover that has happened at Xplornet over the last 3 days.

Xplornet has just upgraded its email accounts. I have been on the phone with an Xplornet agent: (1) we have changed the incoming mail server to pop.xplornet.ca, (2) the out going was changed to SMTP.xplornet.ca. (3) SSL - both are saying yes (4) Outgoing port set at 465, although 587 is also available (5) Incoming port is 995

Both my husband [Len Clark] and I [pennycc@xlpornet.ca] share the same computer, and under the previous system, we had separate passwords. I discovered the Master Password function by accident whil talking to the Xplornet support staff, so I thought we should have the same password as the Master Password. AND I deleted the previous passwords. Now what happens is the only address that works is mine, even though I gave us both the same password as the master password.

Do I have to give him a different one, as previously? Where do I find the option to set individual passwords? Should I, too, have a different one than the Master Password? and whoever answers this: I request a clear answer - I am not very tech savvy and am learning as I go: I have some grey in my hair and started out life as an English major, not an IT person!!! Just so you know!!! Many thanks in advance!

The Thunderbird master password, the only password in Thunderbird, is for protecting access to any stored password in Thunderbird. It has nothing to do with your email account password. Your email password is between you and your email provider. You would set that password at your providers server. You can ask Thunderbird to remember it for you but that is all.
