Can I set it so I don't get asked about compacting?

I recently downloaded the latest update and now every time I delete or file an email I get the popup dialog asking me if I want to compact. Since the first time, I've clicked Cancel because it takes a LONG time to go through all my folders and slows things down. If I promise to be better about manual compacting, can I make this popup stop appearing? Thanks in advance for any help!

Sure you can but then you will back wondering why you system does not work or why you lost all your messages. Read about Compacting here.http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders

I did read that, thanks, and I did a general search about compacting before I asked my question. The only thing I found about stopping the prompts was a suggestion to change the "Compact all folders when it will save over ___ MB in total" option. Is this compacting thing new? Because I've been using Thunderbird for many years, and never got this prompt until I updated this time.

Nothing new. Just regular maintenance. Deleting a message just marks it for deletion and hides it. Compacting actually removes the message and frees the space. I wish they would have picked a more descriptive name for less confusion but they did not ask me.
