Any way to stop "Indent" from also lowering the line by almost 20px?

Will using "Indent" in the body of an email text always simultaneously lower the position of the line by approx. 20px? Is there any way of altering that -- perhaps via Config Editor?

Thanks, in advance!

Chosen solution

It appears that the built-in indent style inserts a paragraph break. Your most likely solution is to use something like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/stationery/ and re-define the styles to your own taste. I'm sorry I can't offer you an easier solution.

Thanks, Zenos.

After a lot of experimentation with Stationery, I've decided that it creates more problems and limitations than benefits, so I think I'll find workarounds to the Indent=paragraph break fact of life.

I have a more serious problem, now -- that I've recently posted -- re. outgoing email fonts being ignored when incoming on another computer and email app. . .

. . . and all I wanted to do was avoid MS's intrusive Windows Live Mail . . .

numbered and bulleted indented lists can be formatted, for instructions see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1001823#answer-627052

I imagine the default settings for indents can be formatted same way, but you would need to find out what heading to apply it to those lists.

Thank-you, hifromnz. I'd found a workaround (see above), but I will read the page to which you kindly pointed me.
