Japanese version of Firefox 35.0.1 using old search UI?
I just installed the en-us version of Firefox 35.0.1 on my MacBook Pro (running Snow Leopard) and the Japanese version on my wife's Mini (running Mavericks).
I was impressed with Firefox's new search UI and went to tell my wife how it works, only to discover that her Japanese installation of Firefox is still using the old UI. There's no matrix of search engine options under the search string candidates in the popup, there's no "Search" pane in the preferences. Everything is just as it used to be. I tried using the "Refresh Firefox" option to see if it made any difference, but that only forced me to reset her preferences and reinstall her extensions. The search UI is still out of date.
I was under the impression that UI language was only difference between the various localized versions of Firefox. Is a common to see such a lack of feature parity between versions?

You only see the Search tab in Options/Preferences if the browser.search.showOneOffButtons pref is set to true on the about:config page.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Thank you, cor-el, that did the trick.
For some reason that pref is set to "True" by default in my en-us installation, but to "False" in my wife's ja-jp installation. Perhaps this is because I had upgraded to 35.0 first, whereas hers went straight from 33 to 35.0.1?
At any rate it's working now, so again, thanks!
