I have lost the three buttons - reply, forward, delete - on the right of the page. How do I get these back?

On the right, two thirds of the way up the in-box there were three boxes. They were - reply to sender, forward and delete message. These have suddenly disappeared and I don't understand why. I would like them back, but how do I get them? I can get these functions by right clicking the message, but I would prefer the buttons returned. Thanks.

The current version is 31.4.0

The image I supplied is the standard Thunderbird where these buttons are located.

however, if you use an addon eg; Thunderbird Conversations 2.8.1 this displays them slightly differently see image suggest you see if this addon needs updating or disable that addon to see if the default returns.

If you could post an image it might help to work out what you are seeing and why it is different.

If you are refering to the buttons contained in the area that shows the headers of an email....see image below.

Right click in the area above the Date but below 'Archive', Junk, buttons. Select 'Customise' Click on 'Restore default Set' button Clickon 'Done' button to close.

I have had the same problem on several versions. For no apparent reason the "Delete" button has disappeared from the toolbar on the right.

This is extremely annoying! Whatever the program is doing to cause this should be fixed.

Clicking the "Restore Default Set" doesn't fix this - it just messes up any other tool bar customizations I have done.

phays: re: Clicking the 'Restore Default Set' doesn't fix this

Are you saying that Clicking the "Restore Default Set" displays only the default buttons with the exception of a 'Delete' button, - there is still no 'Delete' button?

The image below shows all the default set of buttons. note; Reply-all button would only display if the email was sent to more than one person.

After selecting Clicking 'Restore Default Set' what do you see? Please post image.

re: it just messes up any other tool bar customizations It will remove everything and replace with default set.

What customising are you doing? There are only a few additional buttons you can add to the limited space. An image showing the customised view of this area would be helpful.

See the attached screen capture image. The buttons that are circled occasionally disappear for no apparent reason. I can't find any function in the menus that will restore them.

Sometimes I use the Custom function and drag the Delete button to the toolbar/whatever at the top of the screen.

Restore Default Set removes the custom Delete button but doesn't bring back the missing buttons.

Then, again for no apparent reason, the buttons will magically reappear a day or two later.

This is on a Win 8.1 machine, and it isn't the only screwy thing that happens. Windows 8 sucks!

Well, I have tried twice to attach a 142 Kbyte image - as you see it didn't work.
