save thunderbird configuration

I use Thunderbird to check mail in three different accounts and would like to backup and/or export the account settings to a different place in case I lose the hard drive and need to reinstall Thunderbird so I don't have to manually configure all three accounts again?

I already export my address book to a safe place and would like to do the same for the account settings.
