I'm running Firefox 35 but I still don't have the new Search section in my Options.

It wasn't working when I upgraded to 34.0.5 even though Firefox on my work laptop had it from that version. I'd hoped the upgrade today to 35 would have sorted it but my search bar is still running in the old format and that section isn't displayed at all in my Options. Can anyone help explain what might be different with this install/configuration?

Chosen solution

Open up about:config (typed in the Location Bar) Check that this preference is set to true

browser.search.showOneOffButtons

Then restart Firefox.

If you set that preference to false, the Search tab in Options disappears.

Beyond that, try the Firefox SafeMode. Firefox Safe Mode

Try restarting your computer and deleting the old firefox if it is still there.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Thanks very much the-edmeister. The about:config change sorted it. Not sure how that had been set to false? All working now anyway. Thanks again for your help.
