What does a "chrome computer" run? My quick bout of googling yields Chrome OS.

Thunderbird is developed for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. (Bear in mind that Linux in general runs on PC hardware.) If you have the means to run programs designed for any of these platforms then it should work. If not, it won't.

It appears that the Chrome OS has been aimed at compatibility with Android. Even though both Android and Chrome OS are built on Linux, neither offers compatibility with mainstream Linux applications, principally because android devices and chromebooks use a different family of CPUs.
