I have been having trouble getting through the internet since I had to restart Firefox. Every. Single. Website I try to go to it automatically throws up the "Unsafe/trusted Connection" box and I have to trust every. single. page...now I cannot get onto a site I trust because Firefox decided that it was not safe because "The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)". It is seriously making me consider changing to a new browser because this problem is ridiculous. I even had to push Google through. Google. C'mon now Firefox.

hello palekitsune, this error message will have a reason why it's caused - most probably either your security software or unwanted software interfering with secure network connections. please attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page (don't add it for real!) & inspect the certificate - see the screenshot attached for instructions:

  • which issuer information does the certificate contain?

thank you!

t was caused because my laptop updated to Microsoft 8.1 and my antivirus software that I put on it was deleted in the process. So whatever version of so-called "protection" was put on my laptop and I had to delete it as well as take off any untrustworthy crap that was included with firefox. It took me about 2 hours to clean up that mess Microsoft made of my laptop with its unwanted reboot and "revamp". Thank you for leading me in the right direction.
