Can anyone tell me how to remove the 'archives folder' Thank You

Can anyone tell me how to remove the 'archives folder' Thank You

Chosen solution

The 'Archives' folder is auto generated when you select to Archive emails.

Archiving is an excellent practise as it helps to keep your file size small and organised. Reducing file size by Archiving helps to improve performance as it uses less memory to open smaller files. This can be particulary important for the 'Sent' folder which can accumulate alot of emails.

Do you have any emails stored in Archives folder or any of its sub folders? If yes, then I would recomend that you do not delete it.

Actually, I'm not sure why you would want to remove what could be conceived as an important folder, but it is your choice :)

If you have an IMAP mail account with Archives folder, then stop subscribing to see it.

For POP mail accounts: You cannot delete a default folder in Thunderbird via the Folder Pane. You could try to delete via the Profile.

Make hidden files and folders visible:

In Thunderbird: Help > Troubleshooting Information click on 'Show Folder' button A new window opens showing your Profile folder.

Close Thunderbird now - this is important Click on 'Mail' folder click on mail account name

Look for all of the following and delete any you locate. Archives file Archives.msf file

If you see: Archives.sbd folder, click on that folder and delete all the files within that folder, then delete the Archives.sbd folder.

This should remove the Archives folder and all its contents.

Restart Thunderbird.
