Mozilla's ISP database can't find my existing email address so what do I put in?
I've downloaded Thunderbird to my new-to-me but venerable Dell laptop running Windows XP.
I ask it to find my existing email account - which is with Orange but was originally with Freeserve - this being reflected in the name.
T'bird says its searching Mozilla's ISP database - and it fails to find my existing account.
It give me option to enter various things manually but I don't know what I should be entering.
Anyone suggest a way forward?
Thanks

Here are the email settings for Orange.
incoming POP server: pop.orangehome.co.uk port: 110 Connection security: None Authentication: Password, transmitted insecurely User name: yourname.orangehome.co.uk
outgoing SMTP server: smtp.orangehome.co.uk port: 25 (or 587) Connection security: None Authentication: No authentication (PW transmitted insecurely if port is 587) User name: (yourname.orangehome.co.uk on port 587)

Nearly worked - not able to set the incoming port to 110 - options 143 or 993 or auto, only and it doesn't like my username as name.orangehome.co.uk, particularly when my email address is still via fsnet
getting closer though - thanks
Maybe you should ask your email provider what settings that their server uses. They set it up and should know.
