I have just upgraded my desktop from 32 to 64 bit windows 7. I downloaded the latest version of Thunderbird, and did what I have done many times before to copy all my TB data into the new profile. Everything seemed to be OK, until I tried to click on a hyperlink. My browser (chrome) simply would not open. I have worked my way through ALL of the steps given in the TB help to try to fix this problem, and, finally, only after I had created a new profile could I get a link to work. I have set up the multiple accounts that I am monitoring but now I find I have an Inbox associated with each account rather than one consolidated entry. How can I get all the Inboxes to combine back into a single one?

Chosen solution

Sounds like you had originally set up all your Pop mail accounts to use a Global Inbox.

see info:

  • Go into 'Offline' mode to stop downloading etc.
  • Create folders in Local Folders and move all your emails into those suitable folders for organising.

Then change the Inbox for each account:

  • Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings for the mail account
  • click on 'Advanced' button
  • select: 'Inbox for different account' and 'Global Inbox (Local Folders)'
  • select 'Include this server when getting new mail'
  • click on OK

It will ask you to check settings for other folders and filters. Repeat for other Pop mail accounts. Click on OK to save and close Account Settings.

Then close thunderbird and wait a short while for backgroud processes to complete. Restart Thunderbird. It should restart in Online mode. Emails should now be downloaded to Local Folders Inbox. All pop mail accounts should disappear from the Folder Pane view.
