Lost all my open tabs with last update
I updated Firefox with your latest security update and since then Firefox would freeze with a script error when I tried to go to one of my tabs. I followed instructions in troubleshooting and it created an "Old Data" folder in my desktop but the new Firefox page did not have any of my tabs. How can I recover them? Can I reverse the update and go back to the previous Firefox status before the update?
(edited to replace tags with tabs - c)

Thank you all for trying to help. Here's what needs to be done to fix the issue when Firefox is installed on a mac. When you tried to reset your profile, note that there was a folder created in your desktop called "Old Foxfire Data" or similar to this. It contains all of your data that was cleaned out in the new profile. Remove the Firefox application and download a fresh Foxfire application. Then start Firefox. When open go to "Help" tab, at the very top. It's the last one. Once you click on Help then click on "Troubleshooting Information". The first section is called "Application Basics". In this section click the "Show In Finder" tab. It will display your profile folder. It starts with a letter then a bunch of numbers and letters. But it will contain ".default" and some more numbers. Now go to that first folder in your desktop called Old Foxfire Data and open it. Note that it will also have a similar profile folder. Open it and from within that folder copy all 80 plus files. Now go back to the new profile folder, open it and paste all the files from that backup profile folder unto the new profile folder. Click yes to replace every file that you are pasting into this new profile folder. That's it. Close, exit and restart Firefox. You will have all your history, bookmarks and any tabs you had open before the crash. I also dis a mac shutdown and restarted the computer so that any possible conflicts would be eliminated. PS: Erasing your new Profile folder and pasting the old folder in its place will not work! You need to replace all the files inside the new folder with the files from your profile in the old data folder.

First lets worry about your first problem. What is the web address of the problem? Does this happen with other pages? What is the name of the script?

By "tags" do you mean "tabs", the pages you had open during a previous session, or do you mean something that was on your home page before, like favorite sites?
I meant tabs. Sorry.
As soon as you log into Firefox, you could not access any of the tabs without getting a scripts error. I then followed the instructions to fix the issue by redoing the profile, however it clearly stated that all my tabs, history etc would be unharmed as they where saved in my desktop as "Old Firefox Data". Well it kept everything except my tabs. So how can I recover them? Is there a way to go back before the security update and save all my tabs?
I found the cause and repeated it. When I wanted to sign on to eBay the page requested that I allow Silverlight to work. When I did, the same crash occured. The issue is that Firefox and Silverlight clash.
Hi Fred, Firefox 33 has renamed a number of session history files. You can check in the following locations for a file that looks to date back to your update or before.
Currently active Firefox profile (post-Reset)
You can open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button.
In the window that launches, scroll down:
(1) Double-click into the sessionstore-backups folder. Anything from the relevant date/time? If so, copy it to a safe location such as your Documents folder.
(2) Back at the main level, scroll down to the sessionstore file(s). Same question. If so, copy it to a safe location such as your Documents folder.
Pre-Reset Profile
Dive into the Old Firefox Data folder and check for one or more semi-randomly-named profile folders. Click in the most recent and check for the same files listed above. Anything?
Note: By default, Windows hides the .js extension. To ensure that you are looking at the files I mentioned, you may want to turn off that feature. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions
The kinds of files you may find among your sessionstore files are:
- sessionstore.js and recovery.js: the windows and tabs in your currently live Firefox session (or, if Firefox is closed, your last session)
- recovery.bak: a backup copy of recovery.js
- previous.js: the windows and tabs in your last Firefox session; sessionstore.bak for pre-33 versions of Firefox
- upgrade.js-build_id: the windows and tabs in the Firefox session that was live at the time of your last update; sessionstore.bak-datetime for pre-33 versions of Firefox
If you come up with something promising, you may be able to have Firefox use it for your next session (details if relevant).

I forgot to mention that the cause of the crash was that after the security update, Firefox was asking if I would ok the Silverlight plugin to be activated. I said yes and that's when the crash occurred. WHEN YOU REPLACE YOUR EXISTING FOXFIRE APP WITH A FRESH NEW ONE, YOU NEED TO GO TO "TOOLS" AND OPEN ADD-ONS THEN DISABLE SILVERLIGHT. If you don't do this, you will crash again.
