I frequently get asked, by less versed people than I, at work to send them updated Mailing list of all our staff (which frequently changes). I've personally created my own email lists and keep them updated and it would be helpful if I could send my email lists to my colleagues in a simple way that makes it easy for them to upload/create? Any ideas?

Chosen solution

I presume you have created a Mailing List which is a sub group/list of an address book.

In Address Book Select the Mailing List Tools > Export

choose somewhere to save the file give file a suitable name Save as file type: comma separated .csv click on Save

Now you can send that file as an attachment to colleagues. .csv files can be imported into any email client.

If they are using Thunderbird open Address Book Tools > import select 'Address Books' and click on next select: Text File (LDIF, .tab, .csv, .txt) and click on Next

select the file and click on open to import.

This will be imported as an Address Book not a Mailing list. As Mailing lists are a sub set of an address book, the names must be in the address book before they can be in a Mailing list. So they would need to manually move contacts if they need them in a different location, but at leasy they would have all the contact details without needing to manually add them.

Thank you! I'd got to the export but was then lost.

Some images to assist: In Address book Tools > Export see first image

choose somewhere to save the file eg: A backup file or Desktop File name: give file a suitable name Save as file type: comma separated .csv click on Save
