How do I get Thunderbird to work with Apple iCloud?

Posted

I've tried everything and I can't get iCloud to work with Thunderbird.

Chosen solution

The problem was the two-step verification process with iCloud. Basically, if you want to use Thunderbird and iCloud together you have to generate an app specific password when you log into the Apple ID website. Here's a link that has the instructions. Hopefully this will spare someone out there the aggravation I went through before figuring this out:)
