It seems there is a problem with latest version 1.0.1 which stops the connection working in lightning calendar. Solution is to remove the add in and re load the older 0.25 version until the problem is fixed with 1.0.1 also remember to click the option not to update automatically other wise you will be upgraded to 1.0.1 again and have the same problem (groundhog day). Author says he is fixing problem.

Yes the link that christ 1 provided will bring you to the versions page. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/provider-for-google-calendar/versions/

Dump your existing version first then follow the download instructions (basically to download the 0.25 ver to your pc then open your add on page and select the settings wheel icon drop down menu (see picture). Choose to add item from file and navigate to your downloads folder to find the packed addon item. Once its loaded you will have to dump your Google calendar in calendar and create a new one with the url for your Google calendar and hey presto! all back to normal. Do not forget to un-click the automatic update for this add on or else it will download version 1.0.1 again!
