black screen. no usable controls
Hi, When I launch FF the window is black. The top of the window where the tools/address bar should be is transparent. I am unable to open in safe mode. I can locate the menu but when I open options, it also opens black. I have uninstalled twice. once via control panel...didn't help. Once manually deleting the Mozilla folders as per the forum suggestion...didn't help. Have rebooted each time. I am running windows 7 64bit. All malware etc scans are fine. Running FF33 Thanks, Brian

can you try the intel driver update from above nevertheless (even you have a nvidia card you might still be on a dual gpu system, with an embedded intel graphics solution that firefox is relying on)

hello brian, other users with this problem all had an embedded intel hd3000 graphics card with an old driver present. in case this also applies to you, here would be a link to update the driver, which in turn should also address the black firefox problem: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764 (for win7 64 bit)
in case this doesn't solve the issue or does not apply to your system, start firefox into safemode by pressing the shift key while the application is launching & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

Thanks Philip. updating that driver did the job. Thanks very much. Thats why they pay you the big bucks...or should. Thanks again
