bing has replaced my home page
I installed a free software package from CNET (safe?) called "Free MP4 TO WMV Converter". After installing the package Firefox opens with BING ignoring my two home page preferences.

It sounds like you have a third party program that has taken over your search engine, home page, and/or the default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be remedied easily:
- Click the menu button and choose Add-ons.
- In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
- Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
- Click the Remove button.
- Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
After Firefox restarts, install the Search Reset Tool. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.

In connection with the above:
- Sometimes a bad add-on will have a very bland name. If you do not remember installing it, but you think it might be useful, consider disabling it temporarily to see whether that helps.
- If the extension does not have a Remove button, it generally needs to be removed using the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. My suggestion on that is to click the "Installed on" column heading to group the items by date. You may find that the program you installed snuck several additional things onto your system that were not disclosed.
I did all 5 steps above. I deleted all extensions. T here was no "restart" pop up. I closed and reopened FireFox...nain (and only) tab opened with BING. I installed the "Search Reset Tool" and restated in "safe" mode...opoened with Bing. FYI, I have two web pages saved as home pages...Google and Yahoo.
Dumb, Dumb, Dumb!!!!
I was launching FireFox from the "task bar" which was a "short cut". I opened the properties and there was a long string after the .exe. I deleted the short cut, launched FireFox from the Start button on the lower left and BING was gone and two tabs opened with my HomePage book marks.
Thanks for your help...it got me going in the right direction..
